Sarah Arians

Physiotherapist with a special interest in running and lower-limb biomechanics. Physiolates Instructor

Sarah is a physiotherapist with a particular passion for runners and lower-limb biomechanics. She brings detailed running gait analysis and structured rehabilitation to everyone from first-time runners to competitive athletes.

Sarah completed her Bachelor of Health Science and her Master of Physiotherapy Practice at La Trobe University,

Sarah’s clinical interests centre on running-related injuries — from new runners managing their first niggles, through recreational runners chasing personal bests, to athletes returning after injury. Her running gait analysis combines treadmill video assessment with biomechanical analysis to identify the movement patterns and load issues that contribute to common lower-limb injuries: shin pain, Achilles tendinopathy, patellofemoral pain, and stress reactions.

Beyond running, Sarah treats general musculoskeletal conditions across the lower limb, and is known for her structured, exercise-focused approach to rehabilitation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sarah

Not at all. Sarah sees runners of every level — first-time joggers, recreational runners, weekend half-marathoners, and competitive athletes. The same biomechanical principles apply whether you're running once a week or six.

Sarah will assess your running on a treadmill while capturing video from multiple angles. She analyses how you load and unload each step, your trunk and pelvis control, foot strike, and timing. From this you'll get specific, individual recommendations — sometimes about training load, sometimes about strength, sometimes about technique.

Maybe, maybe not. Shin pain has multiple causes, from mild bone stress to muscle overload to biomechanical issues. Sarah's assessment will tell you whether continuing to run is reasonable (often it is, with modifications) or whether a period of relative rest is needed.

It depends entirely on the injury and how long you've had it. Sarah uses graded return-to-running programs that start small and build progressively, with clear milestones at each step.
