- DRAM screen (abdominal separation) and early core activation.

- Clear plan for walking and light activity over the next few weeks.
Your full postnatal check to guide a confident return to exercise.

Bump & Beyond is a series of three individual physiotherapy sessions designed to support women during pregnancy and through the early postnatal period. Each session focuses on pelvic floor health, core strength, movement support and tailored education to help you feel confident throughout pregnancy, birth preparation and postpartum healing.
Your pregnancy appointment may include:
- Pelvic floor assessment and education
- Guidance on safe exercise and movement through pregnancy
- Management of pelvic girdle, back or rib pain
- Strategies for lifting, sleep and daily comfort
- Birth preparation, including pelvic floor relaxation, perineal massage education and labour-position advice
This session sets the foundations for a smoother postpartum recovery.
Your 6-week appointment focuses on your recovery following birth — whether vaginal or caesarean. It may include:
- Pelvic floor assessment (internal exam offered with consent)
- Abdominal separation (DRAM) assessment
- Caesarean or perineal scar assessment and management
- Early return to movement guidance
- Support for feeding-related pain or posture issues
- Bladder or bowel symptom review and strategies
You will leave with a tailored recovery plan.
This session assesses your readiness to return to higher-intensity exercise such as running, gym training, Pilates, or sport. It may include:
- Pelvic floor load testing
- Core strength and functional capacity testing
- Impact-readiness screening (based on current postnatal guidelines)
- Running or gym-specific movement assessments
Progression of your rehabilitation program
This ensures you return to exercise safely and confidently.
No — it is not required. Internal examination is offered only when appropriate and always with your consent. It can provide valuable information about pelvic floor strength, tension, coordination and recovery, but real-time ultrasound is also available as a non-invasive option.
This program is suited to all pregnant and postpartum women, regardless of whether you have symptoms. It is especially helpful if you want:
- Guidance for a safe and supported pregnancy
- Evidence-based birth preparation
- Early postnatal recovery support
- Pelvic floor or core assessment
- Help with pain, incontinence, prolapse symptoms or abdominal separation
- A safe, structured return-to-exercise plan
